SMIC has always attached great importance to social responsibility and does not support mineral trade that may seriously violate human rights. We control the sourcing of tantalum, tin, tungsten, gold and other minerals (such as cobalt, Mica, etc.) from Congo and its surrounding countries and regions, and other Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas.

SMIC sets up a working group on responsible mineral management and develops strong responsible mineral management policies and procedures to ensure effective management of responsible sourcing of minerals. The working group develop and promulgate the policy statement on responsible sourcing of minerals, establish a supervision system which require all relevant suppliers to provide evidence meeting the requirements of responsible mineral management, and achieve regulatory compliance through close communication with suppliers. Responsible mineral management policies and procedures are consistent with, but not limited to, U.S. law (Dodd Frank act, chapter 1502) and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's conflict minerals disclosure requirements. In accordance with the due diligence framework of the organization for economic cooperation and development (OECD), we use the due diligence tools of the responsible minerals Initiative (RMI) to conduct due diligence on suppliers to ensure the legitimacy of these minerals.
