    SMIC CEO TY Chiu Re-Elected to GSA Board

    SHANGHAI, March 25, 2016 -- Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation ("SMIC"; NYSE: SMI; SEHK: 981), China's largest and most advanced semiconductor foundry, today announced that its CEO and Executive Director, Dr. TY Chiu, has been re-elected to the Board of Directors of the Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA), a world-leading semiconductor industry association.

    GSA’s board is comprised of senior executives who represent the semiconductor industry’s most active global regions.  This year, eight board positions were available for election, including two EDA/ design positions, three foundry positions, one value-chain producer position, and two test/packaging and back-end supplier positions. Each position will serve a three-year term.
