SMIC to Webcast Conference Call on Second Quarter 2004 Results on July 30, 2004

Shanghai, China ― July 19, 2004 ― SMIC (NYSE: SMI, SEHK: 981) announced that its second quarter 2004 results will be released at 6:00 a.m. Shanghai time on Friday, July 30th, 2004. Following the release, SMIC will host a conference call at 8:30 a.m. Shanghai time. The call will be webcast live with audio at www.3dsentson.com.
